Douglas Hamilton is an oil landscape painter from Scotland's Ayrshire coast. The ever-changing light on the islands of the Firth of Clyde inspired him to experiment with oil painting in his teens. A longtime interest in the impressionists, and a desire to capture fleeting light, colour and atmosphere led Douglas to explore painting in plein air, which form the basis of his works to date. Douglas has lived and painted in several European countries, and is now based in Edinburgh.
